Patricia provides counseling in the following areas:

For individuals, couples, and families

Patricia has developed an effective and innovative cross-cultural mental health intervention for individuals, couples, and families from different backgrounds. She acknowledges, honors, and addresses the differences and establishes a common ground for restoration, allowing for healing relationships in a healthy manner.

For weight management, self-image, and self-esteem

She focuses and assertively addresses the emotional reasons behind weight struggles that are negatively connected to self-esteem, confidence, and body image. Her approach is to stay focused while understanding the psychological roots of the problem, moving forward to create a change in an individual’s belief system. This leads to a new, positive outlook for a healthier lifestyle. She will also bring in her fitness and nutrition knowledge to keep the momentum going.

For PTSD and trauma

For those who suffer from PTSD or trauma, Patricia gently and respectfully addresses the struggles by using cognitive behavioral techniques. This allows for better coping skills and creates room for positive changes that can impact the present and future.
Patricia has vast experience working with victims of crime. This includes victims of abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. She’s worked alongside the Special Victims Unit in speaking with both children and adults victimized by these heinous felonies.

For Sports Mental Coaching

Sports mental coaching is a type of mental coaching that is used by athletes, teams, and others who want to improve their performance in several areas. It is for those who wish to harness the power of the mind to perform with greater confidence and consistency, allowing them to reach their potential. Patricia emphasizes psychological skills concerning confidence, performing under pressure, and maintaining composure during challenging situations. Time is often spent helping individuals recognize and utilize their weaknesses to turn them into personal strengths. Other issues that are often addressed are low confidence; communication difficulties with teammates or coaches; competition distractions; loss of joy in the sport; taking too or not enough risks; lacking motivation; and weak leadership skills.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis is compelling and intriguing. It is a recognized tool that teaches the mind to work to its potential—the learnings and resources that lie within. Hypnosis can address the following areas: preparation for surgery, ego boost, self-esteem, stress and anxiety, autoimmune diseases, emotional disorders, PTSD, eating disorders, weight loss, smoking and addictions, sport and athletic performance, and empowerment.

Virtual Reality Graded Exposure Therapy (VRGET)

VRGET uses comprehensive computer images, 3-D displays, and body-tracking technologies to produce a virtual reality. The goal is to stimulate the fear of situations or objects in hopes of desensitizing the patient. Virtual reality environments have been created to provide visual, auditory, tactile, vibratory, vestibular, and olfactory stimuli to patients; this is accomplished in a controlled setting where Patricia tracks the patient’s state of arousal via physiological indicators of stress, like heart rate and breathing patterns. VRGET has helped manage PTSD and severe phobias.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)

CISD typically happens within the first three days after an event. It is for people who are victims and for first responders who experienced a crisis. The goals of a CISD program is to decrease the impact of trauma; help individuals recover; and find people who may need help. Patricia can provide group therapy or individual therapy for CISD.
